”Atan-chan's Pancake hat”

In September 2025, a new picture book in the Atan-chan series was published by Nijino Ehonya.

I have always loved moonlit nights for their special, magical feel. One day, an image popped into my head of Atan-chan and the moon baking pancakes together up in the sky, and I knew I wanted to give Atan-chan this wonderful experience someday. It is a slightly special, exciting secret moment shared just between Atan-chan and the moon.

This story was written as a bedtime story for children. I created it with the hope that reading it before sleep would bring them sweet dreams. With everything happening in the world today, adults are going through an emotional rollercoaster. I wonder how children are taking it all in. In the final scene of the story, the world is enveloped in a soft golden hue; I drew it imagining a feeling of warmth and gentle happiness soaking deep into the heart. I hope children can fall asleep wrapped in those soft, gentle feelings.

2025年9月、新しいあたんちゃんシリーズ絵本がニジノ絵本屋より出版されました。このお話の原案ができたのは6、7年前だったと思います。

月夜の晩ってどこか特別な感じがして好きです。ある時、あたんちゃんとお月様がお空でホットケーキを焼いている絵のイメージが頭に浮かんで、ぜひいつか、あたんちゃんにこの素敵な体験をさせてあげたいなと思っていました。あたんちゃんとお月様のちょっとトクベツでワクワクする秘密の時間。この晩、もしかしたら夜空を見上げた人だけが、空が美味しそうな金色に染まったのを見たのかもしれません。

このお話は子供たちに向けたベットタイムストーリーです。子どもたちが眠る前に読んでくれたら楽しい夢を見てくれるんじゃないかな、そう願って制作しました。昨今の世界情勢で、大人は感情を揺さぶられています。それを子どもたちはどう受け止めているのでしょうか。物語の最後の場面に、世界が柔らかい金色に染まっていく場面がありますが、優しくて幸せな気持ちが、心の中に染み渡っていくような感じであればいいなと想像しながら描きました。優しい気持ちのまま眠りについてもらいたいです。
